22-year-old Iraqi Canadian artist Huda Al-Hamami, who performs under the name Ebril (pronounced “ehh bril”), quietly released her debut album In Copula earlier this year after years of honing her craft at home in Hamilton, Ontario.
In July 2025, the opening track “Stranger in You” took on a life of its own and surpassed 1 billion views on TikTok. Today, In Copula has amassed 18M+ streams, taking listeners on a journey from dusk to dawn. It draws from a wide range of genres, including folk, lo-fi, and shoegaze, it also weaves together field recordings of nature, and samples from the street markets captured during visits to her homeland. The album is entirely self-written, produced, performed, mixed, and mastered by Huda herself.
Ebril is a deeply empathetic artist, passionate about social justice and environmental issues, committed to inspiring the next generation while championing greater representation for female Middle Eastern artists in the mainstream music industry.
